Cancel culture hits hardest at nation’s highest-ranked colleges
California, District of Columbia, Massachusetts | September 17, 2021
Over the past six years, one of the worst places to be, in terms of getting targeted, punished or canceled for what you say, has been on campus at an elite American college.
Over the past six years, one of the worst places to be, in terms of getting targeted, punished or canceled for what you say, has been on campus at an elite American college.
A recent survey by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) found since 2015, Stanford University has had the most incidents of scholars being targeted by “triggered” complainants, with 18 reported on the school’s California campus, twice as many as reported at Harvard, UCLA and Georgetown.
All told, the Ivy League accounted for half of the six worst campuses for scholar targeting, as the University of Pennsylvania and Yale ranked next on the list, according to FIRE’s tally of more than 400 targeting incidents that have occurred since 2015… (Excerpts from the Washington Times)

This Mother Goes Off About That ‘Antifa’ Teacher Allowed to Indoctrinate Students
California | September 8, 2021
Gabriel Gipe is a government school teacher in California recently caught up in a Project Veritas sting. Gipe bragged about how he pushes his political ideologies onto his students.
“I have 180 days to turn them into revolutionaries,” he said. Gipe has an Antifa flag in his classroom. A student told him the flag made him uncomfortable.
“Well, it’s meant to make fascists feel uncomfortable,” Gipe claimed he told the student. “I don’t know what to tell you.”
The woman in the video below is a mother whose daughter was in Gipe’s class. Calling her “concerned” would put it lightly. She is angry that Gipe was allowed to influence her daughter — and not in a good way. She is speaking before the school board, going off about the indoctrination….(Excerpts from Black Community News)

California Parents Protest School District’s Mandatory Mask Mandates
California | August 29, 2021
As the school season begins in August, face-to-face classes are resuming in school districts of Los Angeles, but parents and students who want to return are faced with mask mandates.
From the start of school this fall, the California government requires all K-12 students to wear a mask to school, regardless of whether they are vaccinated or not.
On July 21, the Education Board in Glendora Unified School District sent a notice to parents that the district is required to comply with state and county public health department regulations.
On Aug. 23, dozens of parents protested against the district’s denial of parental rights during a meeting of the Glendora Unified School District at Sellers Elementary School in Los Angeles County. They called on the district’s Education Board to provide mask options, curriculum transparency, and accountability…. (Excerpts from the Epoch Times)

California School District Moves to Ban Critical Race Theory from Curriculum
California | June 22, 2021
The Paso Robles, California, school district will consider banning Critical Race Theory (CRT) lessons at its Tuesday board meeting.
“Critical race theory is a divisive ideology that assigns moral fault to individuals solely on the basis of an individual’s race and, therefore, is itself a racist ideology,” the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District board’s resolution reads, CalCoastNews.com reported.
“Critical race theory views social problems primarily as racial problems and, thus, detracts from analysis of underlying socio-economic causes of social problems,” the resolution continued.
The proposed resolution, authored by board president Christopher Arend, lays out several CRT tenets that would be banned from being taught, including:
- Racism is ordinary, the usual way society does business.
- “Differential racialization”, according to which the “dominant society racializes different minority groups at different times, in response to different needs such as the labor market”
- An individual, by virtue of his or her race or sex, is inherently racist and/or sexist, whether consciously or unconsciously.
- Individuals are either a member of the oppressor class or the oppressed class because of race or sex.
- An individual is inherently morally or otherwise superior to another individual because of race or sex.
- An individual, by virtue of his or her race or sex, bears responsibility for actions committed in the past or present by other members of the same race or sex.
- The advent of slavery in the territory that is now the United States constituted the true founding of the United States, or the preservation of slavery was a material motive for independence from England….

Why we can and should ban critical race theory from public schools
California, Washington | June 17, 2021
There is an effort underway in several Republican states to ban critical race theory from the public school system. Some conservatives have objected to this push, arguing that the precedent it sets could prove disastrous for the conservative movement later on. After all, aren’t we the ones who defend and depend on the free exchange of ideas? If we violate the neutral square in which this free exchange occurs, who’s to say conservative ideas won’t be banned next?
The problem with this argument is that the “neutral square” to which they’re referring, the public school system, is not neutral at all. It is a government-run, government-funded, and government-staffed system, which means the state is going to be thoroughly involved in its curriculum one way or the other. And it is: The state sets academic standards for students, requires attendance, and prescribes common class material that teachers are expected to stick to when teaching.
The question, then, is: What do you want the state teaching your children? One would hope it’s not critical race theory.
CRT, which has been around since the 1970s, has become a toxic and divisive doctrine that is infiltrating the corporate world and the classroom. CRT teaches that racism is present in every structure and system upon which America was built; that white people are and always will be inherently oppressive; and that discrimination in favor of minorities is therefore justified. In other words, CRT promotes a kind of rank racialism that demonizes entire racial groups. By insisting that race is determinative of character, it would destroy any real progress we’ve made over the past several decades.
Here are a few examples of CRT at work: In Seattle, white teachers were told they were guilty of “spirit murdering” black children and that they must “bankrupt their privilege in acknowledgment of their thieved inheritance.” In Cupertino, California, third-graders were instructed to list their racial identities and rank themselves according to “power and privilege.” And in Buffalo, New York, students were taught that “all white people” perpetuate systemic racism, and kindergarteners were required to watch a video of dead black children that warned them about “racist police” who might kill them at any time….

Teacher Shares Behind-Scenes Look at How Unions Further Woke Agenda
California | June 17, 2021
California teacher Brenda Lebsack says she began seeing “red flags” in her school district when she decided to become more involved with her union, the California Teachers Association.
After she began attending the union’s conferences in 2015, Lebsack says, she was alarmed to see that many of the topics weren’t academic but instead focused on social justice, human rights, and LGBTQ issues.
“I thought, wow, my union does not seem to care that much about academics as much as they do the political side of things,” Lebsack told The Daily Signal in a phone interview.
A teacher since 1987, Lebsack has taught a variety of grade levels and subjects. She currently is a physical education teacher for special education students in several elementary schools in the Santa Ana Unified School District, about 35 miles south of Los Angeles.
In an effort to educate parents on what is happening in schools across America, Lebsack founded the website Brenda4Kids, which offers videos, articles, and other resources designed to “pull back the curtain on what’s really going on in public education.”
Lebsack encourages parents to get involved and find out what is happening in their children’s school district.
In states such as California, unions and lawmakers are “removing more and more local control,” she says. “And they are removing parent rights.”
Lebsack became active in her teachers union only after her own children were grown and out of the house, Lebsack says. Despite the California Teachers Association’s focus on political issues, she decided she would attend some of the union’s conferences…
