North Dakota Bans Critical Race Theory in Public Schools, Requires ‘Factual, Objective’ Curriculum
North Dakota | November 14, 2021
North Dakota has become the latest state to ban critical race theory (CRT) from being taught in public school classrooms.
On Friday Gov. Doug Burgum, a Republican, signed into law House Bill 1508, a day after the one-page bill overwhelmingly cleared both chambers of the Republican-majority state legislature. Proponents of the ban said this legislative effort was based on the demands of concerned parents.
“Our parents are seeing these types of ideas, these types of concepts in critical race theory being brought home by their children,” said Republican state Rep. Jim Kasper, one of the bill’s sponsors, reported The Bismarck Tribune… (Excerpts from the Epoch Times)

A Pediatrician Joined the School Board During Covid-19. Her Face Mask Recommendations Could Cost Her the Job.
North Dakota | September 19, 2021
When pediatrician Tracie Newman ran for school board here last year, so many residents were eager for her expert help guiding students through the pandemic that there was a waiting list for her campaign lawn signs.
Now, some of those same parents are backing a recall campaign to get her off the board. They say her recommendation that children wear masks this fall oversteps their right as parents to determine what is best for kids’ health and education. They have gathered thousands of signatures to remove her from the board, organized protests and questioned Dr. Newman’s integrity at school-board meetings.
“People are questioning my motives and my ability as a pediatrician,” said Dr. Newman, a mother of three who wears many hats in the community, including serving as the county’s public-health officer. “That’s never happened to me in my professional life.”
The effort to oust Dr. Newman is one of more than 60 recall efforts of board members this year in school districts across the country, according to election-data website Ballotpedia. That is the most in the 15 years Ballotpedia has kept track. Some 60% mention Covid-19 restrictions as a motivation to unseat board members…. (Excerpts from the Wall Street Journal)

States That Mandate Vaccine Passports Must Also Require Voter ID Under New Bill
District of Columbia, North Dakota, South Carolina | August 13, 2021
Republican lawmakers on Thursday introduced the Vaccine Passport and Voter ID Harmonization Act, legislation that would require states mandating vaccine passports to also mandate voter ID requirements.
The Daily Caller News Foundation first obtained the text of the bill, introduced by Kevin Cramer of North Dakota in the Senate and Nancy Mace of South Carolina in the House, “requiring states and local jurisdictions that institute vaccine passports to require voter identification in federal elections.”
“It makes no sense for Democrats to adamantly oppose commonsense Voter ID policies which protect the integrity of our elections,” Cramer said in a statement.
“If they’re comfortable making people show their private medical records to simply go to a restaurant, they should be fine having people prove they are who they say they are before they vote,” he continued. “Our legislation shines a light on their hypocrisy.”..

North Dakota House Passes Bill to End School’s Ties to Planned Parenthood
North Dakota | April 11, 2021
Legislators in the state have long expressed opposition to the sex ed program because of its ties with Planned Parenthood. As Inforum.com reported, during the 2019 legislative session, 89 North Dakota lawmakers wrote to NDSU to express their disapproval of NDSU’s “public partnership with Planned Parenthood.”
SB 2030, which is a funding bill for the state’s Higher Education Challenge Matching Grant, passed the state House, 66-25, with an amendment that prevents schools from entering into contracts with abortion providers.
The bill now returns to the state Senate, where the original measure blocked federal grant dollars to North Dakota’s ten other colleges and universities as well, unless NDSU terminated its arrangement with Planned Parenthood….
